About University & Department

The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak has been established by an Act of the Parliament of India. It came into existence by the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007 and came into action on July 2008. The jurisdiction of the University extends to the whole country and it is fully funded by the Central Government through the University Grant Commission. Department of pharmacy has started in IGNTU campus, Amarkantak from the academic session 2016-’17 with the prior approval of Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi. The department of pharmacy offers four year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and two year diploma in pharmacy (D.Pharm) courses with an intake of 60 for each course and an active Ph.D programme is also running in the department. The mission of the pharmacy department is to train the students with the best of technical knowledge and skills for global need to serve the society with ethics and commitment.
About the Seminar 
This national seminar on Indian tribal medicinal plants research: challenges & prospects will promise to be an exciting opportunity to hear about the latest initiatives and research avenues in medicinal plants research with a focus on Indian folk medicine. This would also provide an opportunity for the students and young teachers to interact with the resource persons/scientists from industry, research institutions and academia to update their knowledge. As a whole it would immensely benefit all the delegates from various parts of the country particularly central states.

Scope of the Seminar: The seminar will provide an opportunity to review and update the recent developments in the frontier of Tribal Medicinal Plants Research, as the experts would be deliberating on the theme. It would enable the delegates including young teachers, research scholars, post graduate students to interact with the experts/resource persons to enrich their knowledge. The participants can also exchange views on concepts and potential research areas and funding agencies in medicinal plant research.
Call for Abstracts
Participants are cordially invited for presentation in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, plant biotechnology, botany, medicinal plants research and phytochemistry. The last date for receiving of abstracts is 10th April, 2018. The abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of experts and the acceptance of presentation (oral or poster) will be mailed to the author. Number of papers for oral and poster presentations will be limited to maintain the quality. Abstracts must be written in English, not exceeding 300 words. The abstract should include title (14pt, bold, upper case, Times new roman), authors names & affiliations (12pt, sentence case, times new roman all through). The text should be single spaced 12pt Times new roman font. Abstracts should be mailed to . Registration of the student participants must be forwarded by Head of the institution.
Poster presentation: The size of the poster should not exceed 120cm (height) and 90 cm (width). The poster must be prepared in English. The contents of the poster should be readable from 1.5 meters.
Oral presentation: Young researchers, faculty members, PhD scholars and PG students are most encouraged for oral presentation. Maximum time for the oral presentation is 10 min. The presentation should be MS Power Point 2010 format. Best oral and poster presentations will be rewarded. 
Speakers: This seminar will be addressed by renowned speakers from Academia, Industry and Research Organizations.

Accommodation:
Modest accommodation will be provided on sharing basis (single/double/dormitory) in hostels of the university. For this, the participants should have completed their registration by 10th April, 2018.
