About the project: This project is aimed at transforming wastes generated by sugar and associated industries in India to renewable energy and valuable chemicals. The focus is on developing approach, capabilities and know-how which will provide better access to energy, improve economic viability of bio-refinery, promote new industries and generate employment in rural areas of India. The goal is to develop the technological solutions for economically transforming selected waste streams to products and facilitate commercialization of developed technologies. Appropriate industry partners and local stake holders from India are involved on co-creating this vision and objectives.
Salary : Consolidated salary Rs.38000/- p.m. + HRA
Job Profile
This is a research job involving professional and technical work in the study of producing biofuels, and biochemicals from bagasse, and other waste streams from sugarmills utilizing primarily biochemical platform. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Pretreatment and detoxification of lignocellulosic biomass
• Enzymatic hydrolysis of pretreated biomass to sugars.
• Separation of lactic acid from fermentation broth
• Separation of butanol from fermentation broth
• Supervise biofuels activities; summarize data and publish findings from research; prepare technical reports.

The candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with scientists and engineers who are closely working in the area of ionic liquid pretreatment for clean sugar production and microbial conversion to advanced fuels from the lignocellulosic sugar hydrolysate. The project consortium includes several research organizations as well as a commercial technology developer. independently plan and carry out experimental and theoretical R&D work in this project in cooperation with the other project partners to assess the feasibility for the large plants. Experiences in both technologies is a merit. Experience from working in cooperation with industry is a merit. You should have a good knowledge in the English language and good oral and written proficiency. We value a candidate who can work in a team but also has an ability to take initiatives.
The appointment is for time bound project and the candidate is required to work mainly for the successful completion of the project . The selection committee may offer lower or higher designation and lower or higher salary depending upon the experience and performance of the candidate in the interview.
